I thought we came to ride?! Our first full day in New Mexico and we were talked into going here....but not for the gambling. Every year there is a "Cowboy Symposium" with all kinds of events and vendors.
This will give you an idea of the facility and some of the New Mexico landscape.
When we looked over the events for the day, we were excited to see that Craig Cameron was giving demonstrations. We got to watch him "start" two colts while we were there.
Here Craig is riding one horse and working one of the green colts at the same time.
We had lunch (smoked Turkey leg) overlooking the arena and race track.
There were lots of music concerts going on. We were lucky to find good seats. That's my sister Susan on the left.
I don't know if you can tell from this photograph, but there was a sea of cowboy hats...and cowboy boots. At first we felt like we were in somebody else's movie.....
We were eager to go to Lynn Anderson's concert and were not disappointed. She put on a wonderful performance.
