Now this is a serious campground! Here's the check-in booth manned by several rangers. Very nice and very helpful.

There are hundreds of campsites here and barns for the horses.

Bathrooms with showers and washer/dryers - luxury! This one is right across the road from our site.

This is a mule drawn cart that is plodding around with one in tow.

It caught Chester's attention . . .

We hooked up with Jan and Terry from Indiana when Chester discovered they had a 1 year old Bull Terrier and a Jack Russel puppy. The puppy was trembling at Chester but the Bull played with him until Chester was worn out - yes, he got tired of playing!!

Jan's grey gelding towered over all of us.

Land Between the Lakes is a penninsula - here's Mara testing the waters of Kentucky Lake.

There were big birds in the lake that turned out to be migrating Pellicans!!! The horses were intrigued as they got closer and flew around. They were too far away to get a good photo.

We rode with Jan and Terry all three days - the horses were well matched as far as speed and got along very well. Jan brought two horses - this is her walker mare. Very pretty and nice gaits, too.

Bounty wasn't too enthusiastic about going under this wierd tree.

The trails were some of the best we rode for footing that allowed us to move out and it was really good to see big trees and green grass again.

Terry's black boy reminded us of Sandman. We rode about 25 miles in three days and loved every minute of it but we had to move on to Lexington and get back to Maine before the weather turned bad.
